A friend of mine said I should talk my story out to friends. I was too embarrassed to admit to him that he is my only friend I can truly talk to about my writing, and even then I can't really because, well, he has his own stuff to work on. I am essentially working in a vacuum, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Working in a vacuum is not good. It's too easy for doubts and demons to creep into your life and mess things up for you.
The only thing you can do is get out and meet people. Go to book signings, conventions, work shops and the like. Even if all you do is participate in online writing forums where not everyone will be your friend or even be helpful, it's better than doing nothing at all.
