Someone once told me I was like Eeyore, that I always had a dour outlook and that was hurting me. He said I should project nothing but positive waves no matter what I was feeling; people are drawn to the positive and are pushed away by the negative.

I thought about that. It sounds good, right? But then when one looks at the memoir market, the popularity of reality television, and the general state of what's going on around us it seems the opposite is true, and I realized that putting on a front is a con that life will eventually reveal.

There's a kernel of truth in what he said though. No one likes a buzzkill. It's okay to let the world know how you're feeling but that same world wants relief, too. Remember, if you've nothing good to say, maybe you should not say anything at all. ;)
