About Author Richard P. Nixon

Fled Libya in wake of '67 Six Day War. "Uncle Mo" eventually seized power - two years later on my birthday. Grew up mostly American, with some "old world" quirks. Have been writing since around 1994, but didn't really start writing until 2008. Between 1976 and 1983 spent my time between boarding school (Ireland, Northern Ireland and England) and Alaska (until 1978) and then Saudi Arabia. Came back to the States in '83 and have been in Arizona since '95. Have a nice day. ;)

The Small Things

After clearing weeds and pulling cattails from part of the pond area I suddenly spotted this beautiful iris I’d planted years ago. I had seen it bloom only once before but had forgotten about it because of overgrowth. Amazing how … Continue reading

Sanctuary in the Desert

Everyone should have a place to detox from the struggles in their lives. That’s what I had in mind when I hand-dug my pond in August 1997. No big deal, you say? Well, maybe but no matter how often people … Continue reading

Another Sign? Hmm…

The other day while browsing the garden section of my local Wal-Mart I was shocked to see rhubarb plants. Now maybe rhubarb is no big deal to you, but I hadn’t seen it since I left Ireland thirty-two years ago. I … Continue reading

Luck? Or a Sign?

The other evening I went out to spot comet Pan-STARRS. I’d known about it for some time, and I’d checked to make sure I knew where to look, but for the life of me I couldn’t see anything. I snapped … Continue reading

Helping Others

Getting unstuck is my number one priority at the moment; I believe everything else will fall into place if I can conquer my biggest challenge – isolation. So I’m always on the lookout for new ideas to help me achieve … Continue reading

Speculation: Space Commerce and Interstellar Travel

Those of us interested in science fiction have many beliefs. Among them; that we will travel to the stars and hence break the “light” barrier, and that the future will exist at all, and that we will encounter intelligent beings … Continue reading

Mom’s Writing

Mom put together some stories based on her growing up in Ireland. She said she’d finish them one day, when she had time. Unfortunately she ran out of time before she could make it all come together, and all I … Continue reading

A Frightfully British Fellow and a Good Sport, Too

Lawrence Treeby was my Sixth Form house master from 1981 to 1983 at Pierrepont School in the small hamlet of Frensham, near Farnham, Surrey, England. He struck me as frightfully British, what with his accent, the mannerisms, and his fondness … Continue reading
