eh? Those were the least of Taggart’s worries about Aunt Betty’s. “Please Dad! She’s weird.”
His father chuckled. “She is at that.”
“John Taggart! Don’t be encouraging him to say things like that.”
“Yes dear, but you have to agree she IS kinda weird.”
“Well maybe so but he still shouldn’t be saying such things. It’s not nice.”
“Well?” Taggart said.
“Don’t worry son. We’re not sending you to Aunt Betty,” his dad replied. “In fact we know how much you’ve talked about space travel and visiting exotic places, Chris. How would you feel about going to live with To’ruk and his family on Antara?”
To’ruk, Antaran ambassador to Earth, fearsome looking creature with dark shiny skin, gaping maw ridged with sharp fangs, and close friend of the family whom he’d first met ten years earlier.
His eyes lit up. “Do you mean it? Really?”
Taggart knew a lot about Antara; its cool wet climate and lush vegetation, four continents, thousands of islands and many other lifeless facts. But studying something wasn’t the same as being there any more than reading about racing was the same as actually racing, so he had begged many times before to go but there was always some reason why he couldn’t.
