I was born in Tripoli, Libya but moved to the States in the wake of the Six Day War. Eleven years later I got sent to boarding school first in Ireland, then Northern Ireland during the Troubles, and finally England. During this time my family moved from Alaska to Saudi Arabia - talk about a change!
I used to disavow my exposure to different cultures and traditions - I wanted to be a plain old "normal" American. But boarding school changed all that and I am so glad!
I also very much like science fiction though I'd have to say my preference is for space opera. I'm just not into multi-colored talking chickens and the usual attempts to be different, I guess.
I currently reside in the “dry” heat of Arizona with my amazing family, and a few pets. Besides writing, I’m interested in amateur astronomy and beer making, and if I ever find the time I’ll fix up the pond.

What's ironic is that when I came back from boarding school I wanted nothing to do with my unusual background - traveling the world and being exposed to the many cultures I encountered along the way, and now I embrace all of it, whether I'm drinking qahwa arabi or enjoying my wife's scratch-made curry. Life is funny that way.
